Raining Champions
Raining Champions
The rain is not a disruption — it’s the main event.
Training is cancelled. Matches are called off. Pitches are waterlogged. In Ireland, rain is
a regular obstacle for sport, separating players, fans, and communities. But what if the weather could bring us together instead?
Raining Champions flips this narrative, turning ‘bad’ weather into a reason to play. It’s a five-a-side football tournament that positions rain as a key player. The game celebrates community, fun, and humour, embracing the chaos and connection that comes with getting soaked.
The project features a complete brand identity for the tournament, incorporating dynamic elements inspired by rain and movement. A bespoke variable typeface, Downpour, reflects the unpredictability and rhythm of rainfall through its variable weights and alternating characters. Finally, a photo book captures the event's spirit, underlining the message: The rain can keep us apart, but it can also bring us together.
